Hemi, Agility Dog Champion

Hemi's USDAA "re-debut" was on March 17, 2007, after being on 10 weeks of rest for a bulging disk.  She needed just one gamble for ADCH.  There was a gamble on Saturday, but Hemi got a refusal.  I hoped for a weave gamble and got one on Sunday!  JP was off work and able to come cheer for us.  I felt that Hemi had a good chance to get it.

Large dogs went first.  As the class went on, I was surprised that many dogs had trouble with the gamble (refusals between 1 & 2) and I started to doubt whether she'd get it.  I was nervous!  Finally, it was our turn.

I had planned the opening to "practice" the gamble moves with other obstacles and it worked great.  I also got her out to the weaves in the opening so she'd know where they were.  The plan was great!  The whistle blew and we were in a good spot.  She sailed through the first two jumps of the gamble as smooth as silk!  Hemi found the weaves and nailed the entry.  Now we just had to get the little push out to the last jump.  She did it!

Unfortunately, we didn't get video of the gamble.  But (by request!), here is the video of her Jumpers run.  Fastest dog in all heights, 6.67 yps!
