Hemi's First Conformation Show (page 2)

Hemi competed four times in the Herding Group, and didn't get anything for the first three.  So I didn't expect much when we went in the fourth time.  There were so many dogs that the judge divided us in two groups and had us each move our dogs around the ring.  Next, the judge narrowed it down to a few dogs he liked the best.  The procedure is that he will point at the ones he wants and the rest know they haven't made it this time.  Normally, he points first at the dog who will end up in first place and so on.

In Hemi's show, first he selected the Sheltie and then the Corgi.  It was a good thing I was looking at him and not glancing down or I might have missed the next point -- at ME!  Oh my gosh, we're going to get Group 3!   I was so excited!  I moved over to the side where I lined up third behind the other two dogs.  The judge looked over his choices and then pointed at me!  I couldn't believe it!  Hemi got Group 1!  We won the Herding Group!!!  I didn't think it could get any more exciting than finishing our Championship with such high marks, but that moment was pretty darn amazing.  :0)

A little while later, we went in to compete for Best in Show along with some other beautiful dogs.  Hemi did a nice job, but the honors went to the American Eskimo.  I didn't care, though, I was still so proud of her!!!  My little Hemi (at only 1.5 years old) has now titled in tracking, agility and conformation and is definitely multi-talented!

The exciting moment when the judge pointed and gave us Group 1!
